Megan was amazing and I highly highly recommend her to anyone in search of a doula. She provided lots of great information and support pre-birth, but the most valuable and important to us was having Megan there with us during the birth. Megan was so hands on during the labour. She was with us the entire time at the hospital, bouncing between holding up the heart rate monitor band on my belly, massaging/backrubs, hip squeezes, advocating for us with hospital stuff to stick as close as possible to our birth plan. She provided alternatives and different methods to keep me as comfortale as possible.
After baby was delivered, I hemorraghed and needed a blood transfusion. My memory of the 'golden hour' is fuzzy and clouded, but I do know that having Megan there with us was exactly what we needed to come out the other side stronger. Megan never left my side for even a minute, she was steadfast and the calming presence in a room full of doctors/nurses/medical jargon being thrown around. She stayed by my side until everything was stablized. She knew how strongly I felt about trying to nurse baby and having skin-to-skin, Megan strongly advocated for me and was hands on with helping baby latch. I cannot say enough great things about Megan and I will be reaching out to Megan again for doula services if and when we have another.
