One of the best decisions we ever made around our pregnancy was having Melanie be our doula. Since it was our first baby, my husbandr and I set out to have a doula who not only provided us reassurance and knowledge, but confidence in making the right decisions for us and our baby throughout the pregnancy & delivery, which we received 10 fold with Melanie. She constantly offered positive, reasonable support to any of our questions, concerns, and doubts, while also asking open ended questions to help us make decisions that made the most sense for us. In a world where information is on overload, especially as a new parent, it’s easy to feel conflicted around what you think is best. to have that guidance in Melanie was worth its weight in gold.
In terms of the actual delivery, it made all the difference having Melanie there. She not only provided the physical support through labor, but equally helped guide us and advocate for our health & wellbeing throughout the entire experience. And after our son was born, she continued to provide us with endless support during the first few weeks, when it all feels like a blur.
