Testimonial for Rachel Ogea
Rachel has made a special place in our hearts and our family. I’ll begin with a little overview. I found Rachel for my second baby. My first baby ended up being an emergency c-section after getting to 7 centimeters dilated at home with an attempted home birth. Over 72 hours of active labor (including the worst back labor). It doesn’t always go as planned but we had our healthy baby boy.
So we thought we’d give it another shot at home birth. I was a little nervous about back labor again since it was the worst distraction during my first labor but Rachel told me she’s had lots of experience in this and she’s got my back wink wink lol. Throughout my pregnancy Rachel would give me assignments, exercises and things to think about for labor and I truly cannot be more thankful for her. To say she’s educated and experienced is an understatement. Rachel’s devotion and maternal instincts are strong. She has such a warm mother’s touch and way with words that was extremely necessary when laboring because not everyone has a kind way of saying let’s get this baby out.
My water broke on Wednesday at 715 pm. I texted her and she says and I quote “I’m guessing 2am” about my contractions starting. 230am they start, she’s done this a few times lol. She was with me, for almost 24 hours while I labored with my baby. She had me change positions a million times it seemed. She fed me, gave me tons of fluids, and made sure I was present. When it came time to push she was telling her greatest secrets and tips to our midwife. Through all of it, everything she did was exactly what was needed for me to give birth to my sweet baby boy at home.
I cannot thank her enough for being so present, so loving, and such a beautiful addition to our home birth story.
