Melissa has attended all 5 of my children's births the first being 9 years ago and my understanding my sons birth is what started Melissa on her path of being a doula after reconnecting with my midwife who delivered some of her children years prior. 500+ births later and training Melissa is an amazing experienced doula, I would trust her with my life!
Melissa is always a face of calm and peace during the whirlwind of laboring.
I have had a few unexpected things a 45 hour labor that Melissa helped me get into every possible position and stayed awake the entire time while not only supporting me but also my husband!
A birth the midwife barely made it too because it was so fast Melissa was on the phone as the voice who brought peace and words of wisdom as to not push right away all while in transit at the early am hours.
a peaceful birth that contractions just were not happening until Melissa arrived and helped me get things going! Baby girl was born a few hours after Melissa arrived.
Melissa was there when worry about our 4th born not having a hand was creeping in, she was able to help me through these trying times and extra ultrasounds and iron infusions. Melissa knows me well and knew I was in denial I was in labor with him she advocated for me to be checked sure enough I was 4cm dilated and in labor, baby was born a few hours later!
And she was there for my family when our 5th was born at home surrounded by family a beautiful labor and delivery with a slight scare. Yet again Melissa spoke love, kindness and reason to me to not be scared to push through the pain! Her words I will always remember:
''don't run from the pain, the pain brings your baby'' and
'You say you can't do it, but your body can and it will, you got this!!!''
