As soon as I found out I was pregnant I knew I wanted to find a doula. When my husband and I met with Kaitlyn, we immediately felt so comfortable and excited to work with her. She is a wealth of knowledge, a calming presence, and overall just the best support you could ask for through it all. As I reflect back on my pregnancy, birth and postpartum days, I can’t even imagine having gone through that time without her support.
I went into pregnancy knowing that I wanted an unmedicated hospital birth. Kaitlyn worked with us through the pregnancy to prepare our plan and provided such great resources and education. As my due date neared (and then passed) my checkins with her kept us feeling confident and relaxed.
When it came time to go to the hospital, she was a rockstar. I truly believe that my birth experience would have been so different if not for having her support. She thinks of the little things ahead of time, and it makes the biggest difference. She also communicates with you so well when you’re in labor. In the moment I found myself remembering specific things we talked about ahead of time too. My husband also felt very supported in that she helped him to understand how to help me during labor.
After our daughter was born, she continued to advocate for me and our baby girl, knowing just what we needed in that early golden hour. She even took the most beautiful first photos of our baby girl for us!
Postpartum checkins were also incredibly helpful. It allowed time to process and talk about the birth story - I can’t even put into words how helpful this was for me to wrap my head around how I had just brought a baby into the world for the first time!
