Where would we even begin to describe our experience with Shamika. It feels difficult to sum up the impact Shamika had on my first birth. My husband and I when we set out to find a doula for us had many interviews and met many fabulous people - but there was something different about Shamika. Her approach was warm, thoughtful, and genuine. She was a strong advocate for our wants, she was a fierce friend when we needed one, and she was a kind a gracious educator when we bombarded her with questions running the gamut in birth topics. She was there for us the entire journey and when it was "go" time she kept us informed, connected, and on track in the hospital.
Shamika is a dedicated professional to her work. She loves what she does and really cares about the people she works with- I was astounded time and time again at how many resources, articles, and humorous little bits she sent us over the course of months. She was flexible and met us halfway and was transparent and available- always. Shamika had opinions and perspective but always made sure that our desires and needs were front and center. This allowed us to have important conversations when making plans.
We are going to miss speaking to Shamika so regularly and couldn't recommend her enough. We feel so fortunate to have had her on one of the most sentimental journeys of our lives- you would be lucky to have her on our team for such an amazing moment. Thank you Shamika we love you. :)
