I am so so grateful to Chelsey and if there was one investment I made during this pregnancy that was most valuable to me, it was her. After interviewing several doulas, Chelsey already really stood out as she met me in person and was so incredibly organized and had so much information at our first meeting that was helpful. I felt I wanted a natural birth but didn’t know if I’d be able to handle it without an epidural but she constantly affirmed to me that I could do it and helped me mentally start committing to it and creating my birth plan.
for the birth itself….i can honestly say without Chelsey I would’ve gotten the epidural immediately upon arrival to the hospital and not had the birth I wanted. She met me there and I was only 3 cm dilated and feeling very upset about it but she immediately got to work on me in the small ER room. These next two hours were crucial as she helped SO MUCH as I was able to relax a little and doze off/lose track of time in between the contractions as she made a peaceful, nice smelling relaxed environment with candle lights and was doing many different relaxation techniques on me as well as coaching my mom and husband on acupressure points and different positions.
We finally got to 5 cm and moved to the L&D room - Chelsey also knew some nurses at the hospital who recommended a night nurse named Sky who Chelsey requested and we got - she was amazing as well. I couldn’t have survived without Chelsey’s support and coaching and hip squeezes. My husband was so thankful to have her as well as he felt totally helpless and was following her lead.Chelsey was there for me to motivate me and calm me when I was totally convinced I couldn’t handle anymore and wanted to give up.
I highly recommend you hire Chelsey as your doula. It will be an incredibly important investment for your pregnancy and especially your birth. Thank you again Chelsey for all your amazing support!!
