My husband was still supportive, but there’s something deeply powerful about having another woman there—someone who just gets it, who holds space for you in a way only a doula can.
Taylor helped me stay grounded in my natural birth preferences. I brought my own steam box and herbs for a labor yoni steam, and she not only helped set it up, but made me feel completely comfortable and honored in the process. She guided me through laboring in the tub and massaged me through contractions when nothing else could take the edge off. Her hands, her words, her calm—it all made such a difference.
Looking back, I can’t believe I waited until my fifth birth to have a doula. I wish I had Taylor by my side from my very first pregnancy. If I ever (accidentally!) have another baby, Taylor will be my first call. I recommend her with all my heart.
