I wasn’t planning on hiring a night nurse. In fact, I was adamantly against it. I wanted the nights to be just for me and my baby — to bond, to do it all myself, to prove I could. But when I found myself at a breaking point with severe mastitis and a high fever, our postpartum doula gently recommended Kim.
I’ll never forget that first night. I actually told her, “I know I hired you… but I don’t want you here.” I meant it. I was protective, exhausted, and raw. But Kim, with such grace and groundedness, simply said, “I understand. But motherhood isn’t meant to be done alone.” That phrase still stays with me — and was one of the first of many lessons I needed to learn in early motherhood.
Kim brought a deep sense of calm, skill, and quiet confidence into our home. She wasn’t just helpful — she was exceptional. She was professional, warm, and incredibly thorough. She honored my preferences, offered gentle guidance, and held space not just for my baby, but for me as a new mother. I trusted her completely, which, if you knew me at the time, says a lot.
My son turns three tomorrow, and we’re still in touch. Kim holds a special place in our family story, and I would wholeheartedly recommend her to any new parent navigating those tender early days. She reminded me that receiving help is part of motherhood — and that it can be healing.
