Jenn was an absolutely amazing birth and postpartum support! I would highly recommend her to anyone! An OB doctor friend knew I was looking for a doula and called me on her way home post a delivery to say Jenn was her favorite doula she's worked with. In the first conversation with Jenn, it was evident that she immediately understood our hopes which included an unmedicated hospital birth and to breastfeed, and had resources and knowledge to support this. My nerves around labor passed once I knew Jenn would be our support. My partner had felt a sense of relief too knowing someone else would be present to guide us.
Prior to labor, she came to our house a couple times. Each time she had another person on her team who would be back up if she couldn't make it. Meeting the back up support ahead of time was not common and appreciated. She walked us through what to expect, tips for once contractions started, and practice with having a baby latch on the breast.
Once contractions started, we were in frequent communication as she guided us through when to head to hospital. At the hospital Jenn was an phenomenal advocate for us. She informed the nurses about my hopes and spoke up when their asks did not align with where I was in the labor process. An example was they needed to take my vitals and I had yet to sit down through a contraction. When they told her this, she suggested they find a way to connect to the system while still standing.
Jenn did everything possible to set me up for a positive birth experience, including jokes when needed. Without her I would not have been successful in achieving my hope of an unmedicated birth. 20+ hours later and endless pushing, she was by our side the entire time.
As for breastfeeding, her advice was so helpful! From the moment the baby was born to even a few months later when I had issues. 12 out 10 for Jenn! She'll support whatever birth goals you have or outcomes that happen!
