After birthing my 3 kiddos, I knew when and if I had a 4th that I wanted to have an unmedicated labor and delivery. My previous births were okay, but I feel like I could have been more present and in the moment during those labors. I found Candace because she worked at the birth center I was attending. Her cheerful personality and warm presence was so welcoming and I just knew she would be a great doula for me. Our initial meetings were amazing. She asked great and informative questions to help her be the coach I needed. When I went into labor, she was helpful in the decision for when I went to the birth center. My labor was challenging. Baby would not engage properly and was stuck in my pubic bone for quite a while. The back to back contractions made it almost unbearable and I felt the urge to tap out many times. With Candace and my husband supporting me, they assisted in giving me the strength and willpower to push through the challenge. My water broke on my way to the birthing tub and I gave birth standing up 7 minutes later. Candace recorded it for me on my phone and I will treasure it and the pictures forever.
