Working with Rachel was truly one of the best experiences of our lives.
At several months into my pregnancy, I had almost decided not to work with a doula, but my partner encouraged me to just talk with a few. The very first time I spoke to Rachel, her warmth and sincerity came across instantly and I knew that this was for us.
Over the course of the remaining pregnancy, Rachel guided us both through the physical, mental, and emotional journey of preparing for our little one. As first time parents, we often didn't even know what questions to ask. She was instrumental on a practical level-- teaching is what to consider and expect-- but on such a deeper level, she helped us draw more closely together as a couple. To appreciate one another in a new way, to appreciate the context in which our child was created and will be raised. To see one another in the differences and similarities. To meet one another well in the hard moments and in the joys. We are a stronger family as a result of that work.
Rachel attended the birth of our little one and ensured that we stuck to our plan for a medication-free delivery. She was an incredible coach, cheerleader, and advocate. Plus, she picked us up late-night burgers once our babe was here and I was famished from a day of labor.
I cannot imagine our pregnancy and birth journey without Rachel's wisdom, kindness, and warmth. There is no commendation high enough. We are grateful for her on a spiritual level.
