As first-timers, the prospect of childbirth felt daunting. The pre-natal sessions with Jessica equipped with us with much of the information we needed to make our birth plan and feel ready for the big day.
During labour, Jessica was very attentive to our needs. She helped us cultivate a sense of levity and joy in our home during a process could have easily felt scary. Her hands-on care helped to emotionally ground my partner and effectively manage pain all the way until it was time to deliver our little one.
At the time of delivery, there were multiple occasions where Jessica calmly, but firmly advocated for my partner. She cut through the noise of the moment and ensured that my partner was heard by our medical providers, and that her decisions and values were respected. Were she not there, I would not have questioned anything our nurses/midwife suggested, and the outcomes would have been very different.
More importantly than all of this, Jessica is a kind-hearted, down to earth person who is easy to get along with. Childbirth was the most intimate and vulnerable moment of our lives, and having somebody we enjoyed being around made the process that much better.
I could say so much more about all of the little details she attended to, or how helpful she was for me as the supporting partner, but the demanding little baby has already made writing this take way too long. Overall, we had a truly amazing childbirth experience. Having Jessica on our team was a HUGE part of that. Her services were worth every penny and then some!
