A few months out from my due date, I decided I wanted to work with a doula to help me have as positive a birthing experience as possible. Without a doubt, Liza's support in the months leading up to, and the day of, my daughter's birth, made a huge impact on my experience. In our first visit, she helped me clarify what kind of birthing experience I wanted through offering thoughtful, reflective questions. During our second visit, we practiced various pain management strategies. She also provided some postpartum planning support tools, which my husband and I are still using two months after our daughter's birth. When my husband and I had questions, she had resources available to help educate us on topics such as the role of the birthing partner supporting the birthing person, latching, and breastfeeding. During my daughter's birth, she was a calm, encouraging presence and helped me find positions I was comfortable laboring in. Our family is grateful for all the support and education she provided us to empower us in becoming parents.
