I cannot imagine that I would have left my birth feeling positive and empowered without Leigh McBride as my doula. She is extremely smart, confident, down-to-earth, and has a high level of knowledge and experience. Her support was exactly what I was looking for in my first birth experience.
Prenatally, Leigh helped us create a birth plan with the intention of a low-intervention unmedicated birth. Then my baby was breech at 36 weeks and Leigh helped us with referrals and in-home with exercises to get her flipped. Sure enough she did!
Once labor started Leigh was there for us every step of the way even when many things didn’t go as I hoped. My labor ended up being 50 hours long due to a large posterior baby and I needed a lot of help. Leigh helped me labor in-person at home and then at the hospital for an unbelievably long time with no rest. The amount of time she spent with us was above and beyond our expectations. Having someone SO committed to staying with us and supporting us during the most transformative days of my life is a blessing I’ll never forget. I ended up having to change my birth plan and needed a series of interventions in order to get my baby girl out and it was so helpful to have Leigh there through each decision. My labor was so long that we went through 3 nurses and 2 midwives, but Leigh was the one constant presence that kept us grounded through the whole process. Despite all we went through, I actually look forward to giving birth again and can’t imagine doing it without Leigh by our side. She is an expert and I learned a ton from her. Every birth needs a Leigh McBride.
