We asked Natasha to be our doula for our first child’s birth. Pregnancy and birth were totally new to us, and we wanted someone to help navigate the decisions we would have to make, explain new terminology, and someone to be a calming presence who was there for us during labor. Natasha met with us before the birth to help us think through our preferences and consider different options and decisions we may have to make once the time came. This was really helpful to us, because during the birth, lots of complications came up and it was good that we had been able to think through decisions beforehand, as there wasn’t much time in the moment. Especially because our birth experience ended up being so different from the one we had planned and preferred, having Natasha with us during labor helped a lot practically and emotionally in terms of navigating all of the new challenges that arose. We found Natasha to be a very calm and even-keeled person, which was a huge benefit during labor. She was able to advocate for our preferences with the medical team in a way that was firm yet non-confrontational. She was also incredibly prepared and organized throughout the whole process, which again, was really beneficial during our unpredictable labor. We would definitely recommend her to our friends who are having their first child and who are feeling somewhat overwhelmed by the whole process.
