We interviewed more than a few doulas, but as soon as we talked to Melanie, I knew she would be the right fit for us! Before labor & birth, she answered every question I had, explained options, and listened to all of my fears and anxieties surrounding birth. During labor, she was a godsend! She decorated the room with fairy lights, candles, and a calming scent, she was present for all major decision making during my induction, and helped me understand what choice I had every step of the way. She guided everyone in the room to best serve me while I was experiencing painful contractions and couldn’t necessarily think or express what I might need next. Postpartum, she sat with me while I recounted my birth story and helped fill in any missing pieces, she changed my baby’s diaper, helped him to get latched, and checked in on us to see how we were doing. I will forever be grateful that she was our doula and would recommend her to everyone if I could! My birthing experience was the perfect calm that it was, in part, because she was there and managing the room and my needs.
