As first-time parents, we really enjoyed our experience working with Serena as our doula. From the moment we had our initial interview meeting with her, we felt connected with her positive energy and wise knowledge on natural birthing methods. Her depth of knowledge was greatly appreciated, as she educated us on all aspects of labour and birth in order to be prepared. She came with wisdom and patience in truly hearing us on what we hoped for. We aspired to have a natural unmedicated birth as our first birth experience, and she supported us in making that happen! Serena provided regular resources for us, that we relied on right until our labour had started. She brings a balance of styles to each interaction between her calming presence, yet showed up with enthusiasm during every meeting we had with her which was great motivation for us. Her down to earth personality, makes it easy to connect with her and have honest conversations on what you hope to have as your birth journey, and talking through the realities of how things could be. Serena quickly learned both of our personalities and was able to complement what each of us needed, both during our visits with her, and of course during labour and birth. She knew how to balance our energies and encourage us in those moments when it truly mattered. We appreciated that she made us feel empowered to make the right decisions throughout our journey. Her detailed at home visits were a huge factor in our ability to be prepared for an experience that is difficult to prepare for! It was really great that Serena was always available to answer any of our questions or address our concerns right away, via email, text, or phone. She made what can be considered as one of the most overwhelming experiences much more manageable and even joyful! We are so grateful to have had Serena as our doula, and would recommend her to any of our family and friends!
