I really hadn't thought much about a doula until a friend of mine suggested I look into one as she had a really good experience. I did some research and eventually through my midwife found Suzie. My husband and I met with her and right away knew she was the perfect fit for us. My birth plan with my first baby was basically to try and labor as long as I could without pain meds, but I wasn't opposed to it if I really felt I needed something. However, with Suzie's amazing coaching she helped me through a completely natural first labor. She was there with us every step of the labor and delivery. We didn't really know much, so having her there made all the difference. She communicated with the medical team, assisted my husband in how he could help, counted me through every contraction, put chapstick on my lips, kept me hydrated and had this "Mary Poppins bag" of everything one would need or want during labor. I had such a good experience and after that we said Suzie would be a part of every birth. So, when we were expecting our second baby we gave her a call and once again with her coaching and help I had another natural delivery. I would recommend Called to Birth without any hesitation. Suzie is exceptional. I have had two calm and beautiful deliveries and I think a lot of that is because Suzie gave me the confidence, resources and help to get through it!
