Emily did an incredible job as our Doula from beginning to end. Her style demonstrates a blend of confidence, experience & knowledge that is complimented by her training as a nurse. My 1st born was by cesarean. With my 2nd, I wanted to have a VBAC. I decided to find a doula later in my pregnancy because I lacked confidence that my body could birth vaginally. When I finally convinced myself to try, we reached out to Emily. After several interviews, my husband and I chose her as our doula. She was encouraging and confident that I could have a VBAC. By then, I was in my 36th week and there was little time, but Emily was able to offer lots of options for us to get our two pre-natal visits with her completed right away. She is very organized & economical with time, so she was able to share a lot of information and support of my needs in each visit and we never felt rushed. She provided handouts for stretches and positions to practice in preparation for labor. We met her at her home office for one visit and she traveled the hour to come to my home for the other visit. At 40 weeks, I decided to schedule Emily's induction support services. On the day that we met, I also had my next ultrasound scheduled. They found that my fluid was a bit lower than they liked. We waited 24 hours before accepting pitocin however, I already had mild contractions because of using the methods Emily showed us. Emily always encouraged me to listen to my own intuition, to remain positive, (since we knew my baby was not in any danger) and to do what I felt was best. Ultimately, I had my VBAC after 16 hours of labor. Emily joined us at the hospital once the pitocin kicked in and she was a wonderful support through the labor and until baby successfully latched. It was so nice to have her back for the postpartum visit, and it felt like visiting with an old friend. I am grateful to Emily for all her skills and care & I highly recommend her services.
