Testimonial for Britney Farmer
Britney was my doula for the birth of my first child this March. Honestly I wasn't really sure what a doula did or if it was worth it, but I'd read some studies about how working with one significantly lowered the likelihood of needing a c section so I figured it was worth it. Britney totally met me and my husband where we were at and supported us so well. She listened to our preferences and supported us so we could have the birth experience we wanted. We knew very little about childbirth and she helped us feel very prepared.
It's hard to put into words how amazingly helpful she was during the actual birth, but I'll sum it up by saying both my husband and I have no idea how we would have made it though without Britney. She was calm, supportive, constructive, and caring without being intrusive throughout the whole process. She helped maintain a calm but cheerful energy. She gave suggestions to help us navigate the hospital system. She empowered my husband to be really helpful, and it was amazing to have him be such an active participant during the birth. All in all, when I'm ready for baby #2, Britney will be the first person I call!! If you're on the fence about working with a birth doula, I definitely recommend it and I especially recommend working with Britney!!
