FTM, I've been hearing about the benefits of having a doula while going through my fertility journey. Isabel was someone I was able to book with close to my due date. Once we did an initial intake on zoom discussing our goals and birth plan etc. I was sure Isabel to be a great match. She was open about her experience timeline and how she fully support any type of birth without judgement or bias. But offering ideas from her experiences. I liked not being pushed to one way or another. She was very thorough with me, I didn't feel rushed and we got through so much. I felt empowered and excited. I was having a rough labor at home and Isabel provided tips for me and my partner to manage the contractions (I was overwhelmed and tired but had moments of relief with her ideas). When I was admitted, we kept in contact on the phone (text and call). I appreciated that she took me as a client because we lived so far apart. Isabel came as I hit 8 cm at night and stayed up with me. She went to get the nurses and staff after discussing with me about switching positions since I had the epidural. She reminded me and kept me hydrated. She was completely attentive to my needs. My partner got to sleep and be rested for pushing time. I knew to look to Isabel to feel comforted while the whole event felt tough. The team kept asking about meds and all but Isabel discussed with me about my progress without needing additonal interventions and I felt confident again and again. Overall, I felt the labor and birth experience was as best as it had been because of Isabel. Postpartum, she checked in a lot and even made delicious week worth of soups and discussed with me about my experience. Validated how I felt about it. I guarantee that if you have Isabel on your team, you and your loved ones will be and feel supported. Also she captured all the photos and videos as the hospital allowed. I am forever grateful to have those memories.
