After deciding on doing a home birth for our first baby I decided to look for a Doula to support us and guide us through labor as first time parents and give us knowledge about what birth would look like and how to prepare for birth. I had no idea what to expect, what a birth team would look like and what they would provide for me, however after an intense labor I realized that I COULD NOT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT TIA! From the very first phone call that I had with Tia to my postpartum care, Tia showed me so much care, empathy, compassion, patience and love. I always felt supported and encouraged by the birth choices I made and I was always informed of my options and presented with an immense amount of knowledge and information. Tia was there to hold my hand (metaphorically and literally) while I delivered our baby girl. During labor I was encouraged by Tia to move around, drink water and change positions, had I not done that and stayed in bed all day, I truly believe my labor wouldn't have progressed and went as smoothly as it did. Tia gave me courage and motivation to keep going and I truly felt like I could do anything with her support and encouragement. After labor Tia checked in on me every few days and visited us, she helped with breastfeeding and also checked in with me to see how I was emotionally and physically, she advocated for us all throughout my pregnancy, labor and postpartum and I truly cannot thank her enough for everything that she did for me, for us, and for our family. Thank you Tia, we appreciate you more than any words can describe or begin to express.
