I first started looking for a doula when a friend shared how her doula helped her. I was looking for someone with experience given it’s my first pregnancy, someone knowledgeable and believe in evidence based practices, and someone with a calming presence to help guide me through one of the most important moments of my life. I spoke to a few different doulas and when we met Natasha I knew she was the one. Natasha was everything I was looking for - calm, friendly, experienced, and most importantly she values and respects my desires and preferences but can give expert advice when I don’t know what to expect.
During the prenatal visits, Natasha helped us create a birth plan, which made me feel at ease about the different options I may encounter. My birth began unexpectedly as I was sent to L&D directly from a scheduled OB visit due to low levels of amniotic fluid and presence of meconium. I called Natasha right away, she walked me through the options I may be presented when I arrive and helped me evaluate the risks and benefits. A few hours after my induction began, I felt that my contraction had gotten quite strong and confirmed that I was in active labor. When Natasha came, I was experiencing contraction pain and didn’t know how to breathe through them. Natasha immediately put her hands on my shoulders and guided me to relax, it was like magic that the pain suddenly didn’t feel as bad. Throughout the next 8 hours, Natasha worked diligently with my delivery nurse in helping me labor in different positions and guiding my husband on how to help support me.
We are so thankful for having had Natasha with us, and truly couldn’t have delivered my son without the kind of care and support Natasha gave us. She will sure be my first go to person for my second child!
