When we welcomed our first daughter, we were brand new parents—navigating sleepless nights, breastfeeding struggles, and all the unknowns that come with a newborn. Just 13 months later, we welcomed our second daughter, and we knew we needed support to survive and truly enjoy those precious early days. That’s when we found our postpartum doula, and from the moment she entered our home, everything began to feel lighter, calmer, more manageable.
She quickly became so much more than a doula—she became like family.
She was there for us in every way: accompanying us to pediatric appointments when we were too overwhelmed to take in the information alone, showing us how to properly use our stroller and car seat (which felt like a monumental task at the time), and patiently supporting us through the ups and downs of breastfeeding both babies. She celebrated our little victories and reassured us through the tough moments.
Her presence brought warmth and peace into our home. She prepared nourishing, homemade meals when we barely had the energy to eat. She cared for our daughters with such gentleness and love that we felt safe handing them over for a much-needed nap or shower. More importantly, she cared for us—reminding us to rest, to breathe, and to trust ourselves as parents.
In so many ways, she became the most healing part of our postpartum journey. She offered the kind of care and comfort only a mother could provide—but in a way that made space for us to grow into our roles as parents. Her wisdom, kindness, and quiet strength changed our lives forever.
We cannot imagine those early days without her and will always hold her in our hearts as one of the most important parts of our family’s story.
