I had planned for an all-natural birth at a birthing center, but at 38 weeks I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia due to protein in my urine and elevated blood pressure, which led to a hospital transfer and a two-day induction. Throughout this unexpected and challenging experience, Albina was a constant support—she was with me from the time I was admitted and remained present off and on throughout the labor. She provided clear, compassionate information about the induction process, advocated for me with the medical team, and helped me feel heard and empowered during a time when much felt out of my control. Although my birth ended in a C-section after my baby’s heartbeat became unstable and I wasn’t progressing, I’m deeply grateful for Albina’s calm presence and dedication, and I couldn’t have asked for a better doula to support me through it all.
