I now know what my midwife meant when she said "a good doula is worth her weight in gold". The support and encouragement Stephani offered me during labor and delivery was the motivation I needed to not give up on my birth plan when things got hard. Arriving to the hospital as contractions were becoming more intense and seeing Stephani's face was a huge relief I didn't even know I needed! As a first time mom, as much as I tried to prepare myself, birth was still unknown territory for me and knowing Stephani was there by my side encouraging me in ways that only another female and mother could do, helped me more than I ever could've imagined. I am forever grateful for Stephani and her presence at our birth! Having a doula for any future births, will now be a requirement for me!
