Jasmine was an invaluable member of our birth team. The first thing I noticed about Jasmine when I met her was her calming presence. What is truly incredible is that she maintains that calm, supportive, reassuring demeanor even in the middle of the beautiful chaos of birth. My husband and I both feel that choosing Jasmine to be our doula was one of the single best choices we made for our birth! She met with us before the birth and I remember feeling so much less stressed after those meetings because I felt safe knowing my husband and I, both completely new to this whole birth and parenthood thing, had someone so capable and knowledgeable who would be there to guide and support us. This made me worry so much less about the unknowns of labor and birth. My birth did not go exactly as planned, but I had a positive, empowering birth experience never the less. I was so grateful to have Jasmine there to help me in so many ways, participating in my discussions with hospital care providers as we tried to determine the best path forward in terms of my care, always magically appearing next to me with a full water bottle or coconut water, providing hip squeezes and other comfort measures during labor, and being 100% in my corner. She was with us for around 30 hours and I honestly can’t believe how much stamina and poise she has throughout such a lengthy, tiring process!
We didn’t hire a birth photographer because we were worried about feeling too “on display” but we asked Jasmine to take a few photos if she got a moment. She took some beautiful photos of our son’s first moments of life after birth and I’m so so grateful to have those precious images to look back on.
We will absolutely want Jasmine to be at our next birth and are forever grateful for the care she took to make our journey into parenthood such a beautiful, sacred experience.
