Working with Mel was a dream! I had so much anxiety throughout pregnancy and can't imagine how much harder it would have been if I hadn't connected with Mel. From our first meeting, I felt comfortable sharing my worries about pregnancy/labor based on my previous medical experiences, and Mel made me feel validated and heard all along the way. They were incredibly responsive throughout my pregnancy (answering late-night texts when I panicked about listeria, for example) and provided much-needed support as I navigated some significant postpartum obstacles, particularly with breastfeeding.
I was pretty unsure of what I wanted my labor experience to be like, and Mel's thoughtful questions in our pre-birth meeting helped me shape my birth plan. I ended up having a very fast and unmedicated labor (and didn't even have time to really think about much of my birth plan), and Mel played a key role in helping me find comfortable positions, coaching me through contractions, and providing other comfort measures such as hip squeezes. Since I went into labor two weeks early, we ended up getting some additional support from Mel after our daughter was born, and I'm really thankful they were a part of my care team during that time (and I really appreciated their babywearing tips as a complete babywearing amateur!).
Obviously, I highly recommend working with Mel!
