My husband and I just welcomed our first baby and had a very positive birth experience. I attribute a lot of that to working with Dawn. For me it was clear early on in pregnancy that I wanted to have an unmedicated birth and work with a Doula to have an enpowered and positive birth experience, so I interviewed a lot of doulas in my area. I immediately felt a connection and an empowering and maternal energy from dawn when I met her. She did private childbirth education for my husband and I in our home which helped us being well informed and prepared for the scenarios we may encounter at birth. Dawn helped me navigate some "speed bumps" in pregnancy like getting diagnosed with gestational diabetes and facing an induction vs spontaneous labor due to that. Dawn was here for all my questions and anxieties leading up to birth. When the time came for our daughter to be born, Dawn was by our side and was worth her weight in gold doing everything to keep me in the zone from rubbing my feet with essential oils to remind me of breathing techniques, applying pressure to my hips, helping my husband feel involved and helpful and so much more. I felt the fetal ejection reflex a lot too soon before I was ready to push and I don't know how I would have coped with suppressing that reflex without having Dawn coach me through it.
I loved the birth experience I had with Dawn, it was as peaceful, empowering, practically pain free and beautiful as I could have wished.
When I had some complications post birth due to retained placenta fragments I trusted Dawn and my midwife to advise me on the best treatment and felt extremely calm knowing I have a trusted support person helping me navigate as the situation unfolded very quickly.
I will want to have Dawn at the birth of any of my future children and hope many other moms get to have the same wonderful experience I had with her.
