Walking through birth for the first time with Lisa was such a blessing. Honestly, it’s hard to find the words to describe how important she was to our support team. First, it was so helpful to have someone to help us make decisions. I felt so lost having never done this before! It was such a comfort to know she was there to help educate and guide us whether that was in our meetings or on the fly.
Next, Lisa had just a beautiful presence during labor. She was so calm and peaceful and took amazing care of me. At one point I said to my husband, “does it feel nice not to have to worry for me?” (Between contractions)- he was so relieved to have Lisa there to meet big and small needs for me. My husband could support me and also feel supported.
Lisa worked beautifully with the hospital staff. It was such a harmonious feeling.
Finally, while it’s incredible to have a doula who knows her stuff both professionally and personally, the fact that Lisa is a Christian is just huge. She brought us so much peace along the way but ultimately, was a part of bringing Jesus into the birth process in a way I can only describe as miraculous. She prayed over us and spoke scripture when I needed it. Lisa was an enormous blessing to our birth experience. She is living her calling in such an obvious way. I’m so thankful we had her with us in such an unknown, new experience.
