I had the privilege of working with Vanessa as a postpartum doula when my son was 5–10 weeks old, and I enthusiastically recommend her to other new or expecting moms. She was an incredible support during a time that felt both joyful and overwhelming. Every visit with her was a perfect balance of care for me and guidance that helped improve my confidence as a new mom.
What I especially appreciated was how intentional Vanessa was about supporting me to achieve the goals I articulated when we first started our work together—with the biggest goal being building my confidence taking care of my baby alone while my husband was back at work. At the start of each visit, we would set three goals for the day—usually a mix of self-care (like rest or a shower), dedicated time for me to do my physical therapy exercises, and learning a new baby-related skill. Vanessa taught me how to baby wear with different carriers, hand express, nurse in different positions, calm my baby when he cried, and lots of other critical skills. She’s a great teacher—calm, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable.
Vanessa’s presence gave me the chance to rest without guilt, knowing my baby was in good hands. (He always took GREAT naps with her!) She also gently encouraged me to take care of myself and take important steps like driving with my baby, going out to dinner with the baby or meeting up with friends, going on walks alone, or even having people over—things that felt daunting at first but became empowering milestones.
If you are looking for support, care, and real-world guidance—especially as a first-time mom—Vanessa is the doula (and IBCLC and CPST!) you want by your side. I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her, and I see the positive impact of what she taught me every day as I care for my son.
