Originally I met Robin as a back-up doula as my primary had another anticipated birth that could have overlapped with my due date. When we first met, we immediately bonded! Robin has a warm and comfortable presence and put me at ease immediately. She was relaxed, friendly, and we even learned we both hail from close parts of the state. Even when it was determined my primary doula could attend me, Robin offered to be part of my birth journey as we had meshed so well together, and it would be good home birth experience for her. And I am so grateful for that!
When my home birth was determined to require hospital intervention, Robin was the one who helped to pack a hospital bag (which I had completely forgotten to do) and she drove me and my husband to the hospital. She was calm and soothing to me, and defended my choices during the birth with ferocity! She checked in in person after an unanticipated c-section, and was available by phone when she wasn't there in person.
I had a longer stay than anticipated due to complications, and on my discharge date, Robin was there. She helped me pack, and provided a ride home as the hospital was too far from my home for my husband to get our car. When we discovered our child was too small to fit safely in our purchased car seat, she had one that we could use to bring the little one home. She checked in regularly through a very difficult postpartum period, making several visits to both look in on me and my newborn's progress. She gifted me things that were immensely helpful during both the newborn/postpartum phase, and now.
Robin was there as a postpartum doula but also as a friend. I am immensely grateful for her presence on both my birth team and in my life. She will always be an honorary Mema to my little one!
I would recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate, kind and caring doula to help guide them through their birth experience, whether hospital or home-based!
