Shanita helped my husband and I with the birth of our first son in Feb 2025. I read all of the other great testimonies from DoulaMatch and we are so happy we worked with her! I interviewed three doulas, but Shanita’s energy and her additional RN credentials helped with my decision. She was a wealth of knowledge during our pre-labor visits and my husband and I both got so much out of the “lessons”. When my water broke at home, Shanita was very responsive and helped us navigate our labor journey. Once I hit 4cm, we asked Shanita to join us at the hospital and she was there quickly to help us in-person. Although I received great care at Cooperman Barnabas, having Shanita there as a second opinion to validate the doctor’s recommendation was so reassuring. During our labor “downtime”, she worked with our labor nurse to put me in different positions and coached me throughout to keep me calm. We had to part ways due to hospital policy once I needed an urgent C-section since I was not progressing fast enough, but Shanita consistently checked in on me and my husband after the surgery and also when we returned home with our beautiful son. We had our 2 postpartum visits, and with her lactation support, my breastfeeding is now so amazing! We cannot recommend Shanita enough to anyone who is in search of a professional, caring, knowledgeable, and overall awesome human to be part of such a crazy time. THANK YOU SHANITA!
