Every day I am thankful that Lindsey was my doula. As a first time mother, I had many questions and fears about the unknown about pregnancy and birth. Lindsey was there for me as a resource and friend and helped put my mind at ease. We had several appointments prior to birth where we discussed preferences, coping techinques, expectations, and everything in between.
She made sure to check in with me regularly to see how I was feeling leading up to birth, which was especially helpful as someone who was about to experience it for the first time. She was easily reachable and when the time came, she quickly made it to the birth center to be there with me. It was important to me to have a positive and calming birth experience as much as it was possible, and Lindsey took all the measures to help ensure that was the case.
While I ended up needing/receiving more interventions than I had hoped for, Lindsey made sure that we were informed along the way and always made sure to advocate for me with the healthcare professionals on my behalf alongside my partner. She worked well with my partner to make sure they were each comforting me and taking care of tasks so I was never left alone. I felt very taken care of and safe even though at times the experience itself was difficult. She was there to encourage me when I was worried I couldn't keep going, and she was very in tune with my needs and my emotions even when I wasn't myself.
After the birth, Lindsey made sure to follow up with me regularly. She was there for me as I was adjusting to becoming a first-time mom, and gave me helpful advice and resources. The follow-ups she did with me were especially comforting as becoming a mother was all new to me.
Overall, I can't recommend Lindsey enough as she was an invaluable presence in both my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care.
