Maria was very helpful during the delivery of my son in March 2013. My husband and I hired her during the last half of my pregnancy to help prepare for the delivery. During her prenatal visits, she taught us massage and breathing techniques that helped ease my pain during contractions. I credit her and my nurse for working together to help me avoid an emergency C-section. My baby was “sunny-side up” and Maria was able to turn the baby into the correct position on delivery day. She prefers natural methods but was very supportive of my decisions to have an epidural and other interventions along the way. Immediately after delivery, she encouraged me to hold and bond with my baby for an entire hour, much longer than usual in hospitals. She gave me breastfeeding tips right after delivery and during postpartum visits. I recommend having Maria as a doula, as she contributed to my pleasant memories from my delivery experience.
