Simply put - Lucy was a lifesaver. Lucy allayed my fears, taught me how to care for my preemie, and provided the care and support that I needed to make it through the first few weeks of being a mom. We had not planned on using a doula, but life happens and my son was born 5 weeks early… 3 days after my husband broke his leg and was non-weight bearing and following the onset of my severe preeclampsia. When I arrived home for the hospital, I knew I needed help and we had received a recommendation for Lucy. Despite not planning to take on any clients at that time, Lucy agreed to meet us and was our doula for several weeks after we brought my son home from the hospital at 2 weeks old. Lucy was kind and caring and helped to answer all of my questions about caring for Jon (and was patient when I asked questions over and over again). Her hands on training was invaluable – without her I definitely would never have figured out how to use a wrap carrier. I was having issues with breastfeeding and struggled with milk production as well. Lucy helped me navigate the challenges of lactation and made me some yummy treats to help me with lactation. Every time that Lucy was at our house it was such a weight off my shoulders – she was so helpful around the house and her cooking was AMAZING (seriously, my stepson still requests that we make some of the things that she made). We are so lucky to have had Lucy in our life and I cannot recommend her enough to others.
