Since you're on Natalie’s profile, you probably 1) don’t know if want or need a doula, or 2) you’re looking for the right one to support a hospital, home, or birth center birth. I’ll share our story to help with both.
We planned a physiologic birth at a birth center, hoping to avoid a C-section. Natalie was tremendously helpful preparing us for our first baby. When mama went into labor, Natalie was ready to rock, and we felt confident because of the work we’d done together before the big day. Eventually, we went to the birth center, but God had a different plan.
After a full day and some complications, we ended up transferring to hospital. The environments couldn’t have been more different, but Natalie was our one reliable constant! She supported us physically, emotionally, and even medically in ways we couldn’t have imagined. She impressed me with her clinical awareness. As a former RN, she picked up on things the hospital nurses missed, helped mama with positioning to move the baby down, and kept us both calm and centered through every twist and turn. For dad, her emotional support is something I truly can’t put a dollar value on. After birth, my partner told me how thankful she was that we hired Natalie and said, “I don’t know how we would have gotten through it all without her.”
A doula is worth their weight in gold. If you’re going to choose one, you should strongly consider Natalie. We believe in her so much that I’ve given her permission to connect me with anyone who wants to talk to a former client. Just ask her for Ian’s info. We’re forever grateful for what she did for us, for what she does for other families, and we will 100% have her with us for our next baby!
