Josie is an amazing doula and is the perfect doula fit for me and my family! She's supported me through both the births of my babies. My first baby was born via a c section and had a tongue tie and trouble latching. As a first time mom, I didn't know how to advocate for myself or seek the support we needed to ensure our son was removing milk and getting the support for breastfeeding that was needed. Josie was the reason we sought lactation support and were able to bring my supply back up and know that my son was removing enough milk and gaining weight. The first few weeks were so stressful, but Josie was constantly checking in and supporting us.
With my recent pregnancy and birth, Josie knew we wanted to try for a vBAC. We were surprised when my water broke at 38+4, but constant communication with Josie was incredibly helpful. We were able to ask questions before starting pitocin due to Josie's coaching. And I had a successful and unmedicated vBAC to birth my baby girl! My partner was so supportive during, and he was able to figure out how to be the best birth partner again due to Josie's amazing modeling and coaching. Labor and birth is hard work but we had an incredible birth experience that I credit in large part to Josie! Even after the birth, Josie has continued to check in daily to make sure postpartum is going smoothly and that we, as a whole family, are continuing to navigate these changes as best we can.
Josie's style as a doula is very much about getting to know the family, understanding their goals in their birth, and then advocating to support them in achieving those goals and a healthy baby and mama. It feels like Josie is a part of our village and family, and I wouldn't want it any other way. I cannot recommend Josie enough - if you want a doula, find one who is as wonderful, authentic, and empathetic as Josie! Your birth and first few weeks afterwards will be so much because of her!
