My husband and I decided to hire a doula after attending a childbirth education class during our third trimester in preparation for the birth of our first child at a birth center. At first, we weren’t sure if we needed one, but after learning more about the important role doulas play during labor and delivery, we knew we wanted that additional support.
Our biggest concern was the possibility of an unexpected hospital transfer or complications during birth—we felt it would be incredibly reassuring to have someone knowledgeable by our side who could guide us through the process, especially as first-time parents.
After researching several doulas, Sheri was our top choice, and we were so grateful she was able to take us on despite the last-minute request. Thankfully, my birth went smoothly with no need for a transfer or major concerns, but I’m so glad Sheri was there. She was an incredible support—not only during labor and delivery, but also before and after. Her calming presence, encouragement, help with position changes, and reminders to stay hydrated, among many others truly made a huge difference. She is so kind and an amazing person and doula!
My husband was able to focus on applying counterpressure to help ease my back labor, while Sheri was there to support and assist us both. I truly can’t imagine going through it without her and would absolutely love to have her again when we welcome our next baby.
