Hiring The Birth Collective was the best (and easiest!) decision we made for this pregnancy! This was my fourth pregnancy but first with a doula team and it made all the difference. The prenatal visit was thorough and informative; they showed a genuine interest in getting to know both of us while talking about our past birth experiences and exploring goals and fears going into this birth. You will have a hard time deciding which doula you hope is on call the day of labor because they are all so warm and wonderful! The communication between the team is timely; they provided great recommendations from natural remedies and birthing podcasts to labor prep. I really appreciated that each question I brought up was communicated amongst the team so I always felt confident that my birth wishes were well known. I left each conversation feeling empowered that my body and baby knew what they were doing. Austin was the doula on-call the night of labor and was prompt with her responses and provided a sense of calm as she helped us decide when to go into the birth center. Her presence there immediately gave me a sense of security. She prompted me with laboring positions in a gentle but direct way that made labor feel efficient. It was in those moments that her birth work expertise shone and I knew my baby and I were in such good hands. She worked well with the birth center team and my husband and expertly managed giving attentive, hands-on support to me all while taking pictures! I give Austin credit for helping facilitate the birth I wanted. The photography is priceless. Austin captured these moments in such a timeless way, highlighting the rawness and beauty of the process and the tender moments afterwards. She has this amazing ability to photograph intimate moments without feeling intrusive or nosy! This team works together seamlessly and the client benefits from the knowledge and experience of three wonderful doulas. It is truly a pleasure getting to be a TBC client!
