We recently hired a student doula named Alejandra Penaloza, and she was wonderful. We were planning a homebirth and ended up having to be induced in the hospital. I progressed so quickly that I was in active labor by the time she arrived. Alejandra didn’t have to ask and just immediately got to work doing some comfort measures for pain reduction. She worked tirelessly throughout the whole labor, and I didn’t have to request anything. She seemed to just know what I needed and was such a valued asset to my birth team.
