Cari and Suzanne from the Dedicated Doula team were with me every step of the way before, during, and after I gave birth to my first child. They were trustworthy, knowledgeable, empathetic, and responsive whenever I encountered a stressful or uncertain situation. I could always depend on them for concise, quick guidance on topics including early signs of labor, exercises to promote lactation, diaper rash treatment, handling cluster feeding, and riding the ups and downs of breastfeeding. When needed, they also consistently recommended additional resources (e.g. lactation consultants, cranial sacral specialists) that offered high standards of service.
While Suzanne was my doula for the delivery, Cari gave my husband me our third-trimester orientation before delivery. She walked me through what would happen the day of, helped me practice expressing milk, and was the centering presence I needed walking into an uncertain and life-changing time. My husband, who had been skeptical of hiring a doula before the meeting, told me afterward that he "couldn't imagine" not having Cari and Suzanne onboard with us.
