Even before labor, I felt a deep sense of trust and comfort with her. I clicked with her immediately. She answered all my questions, explained every part of labor, and helped me create my ideal birth plan—complete with a backup plan in case things didn’t go as expected. We hoped for the best and prepared for the worst—and thanks to Emily, I got the best.
During pregnancy, she came to our house and walked us through how to labor at home, when to go to the hospital, and what to expect. That education was invaluable. When labor started, I was surprisingly calm and empowered, practicing what she taught me until she arrived. We labored at home until it was hospital time where she was there waiting for us.
She literally held my hand through labor, brought peace, strength, and stability into the room, and knew exactly how to guide me and my partner while respecting and supporting our preferences. She introduced tools and techniques that helped me manage pain and labor in whatever position felt best for me. Even the hospital staff complimented her—one nurse said Emily was one of the best doulas they had ever seen!
As a first-time mom, I was nervous, but with Emily by my side, I felt safe, confident, and in control. I truly couldn’t have done it without her. She reminded me of my “why,” empowered me when I needed it most, and made my birth experience one I’ll cherish forever.
