We are so glad that we hired Julie to be our doula!! She was so helpful and available all throughout my pregnancy. Our baby was breech until 36.5 weeks and she provided a lot of information about ways to help flip a breech baby, and provided the emotional support for me while I waited and worried for an ECV or c section... it was all made easier with Julie there to listen and support. She finally did flip and I went into labor 5 days after my due date and delivered unmedicated at a birth center. It was during the birth that Julie really felt indispensable - I mean I really don't know how I would've done it without her! She was very encouraging the entire time, putting my nerves at ease and making me feel like I was doing a good job getting through each contraction. She helped my husband support me best - when I was laboring initially without her, it was hard to know how to ask my husband to give pressure or help out - but when she was there, she told him what to do and it all felt great and took that extra responsibility off my shoulders. She was helpful in evaluating choices as my labor progressed and I felt like I had equal parts advice and wholehearted support on whatever decision I made. Giving birth is one hell of an experience, and she also helped post partum to process my feelings about how it all went. I am so glad to have had Julie on my support team and recommend her to anyone giving birth!!
