I always knew I wanted to work with a doula when I got pregnant. Besides being knowledgeable and experienced, Aisha was so personable, and I loved her energy when we first met. That is what helped me decide I wanted her to be our doula! My husband and I were quite anxious about our pregnancy after a previous miscarriage, and having Aisha's support made me feel more confident to advocate for myself at my prenatal appointments, share my birth preferences with providers, and ultimately feel confident about my labor and delivery.
Aisha was very attuned to my and my husband's needs during the 24 hours I was in labor. There's so much I'm still processing about my birth, but one thing I didn't need long to process was that Aisha was one of the main reasons I had a positive birth experience despite everything not going as I how I thought it would - such as stalled labor, baby being in an occiput posterior (OP) position, and not having the attending physician I hoped for.
When I learned baby was in an OP and my labor was stalled, I was exhausted. But Aisha was physically strong and helped me move into different positions. She was motivating and positive throughout, which helped my husband and me a lot.
I'm so grateful Aisha was a part of our journey. I cannot imagine my pregnancy and birth experience without her, and I highly recommend her!
