As first time parents, we are often asked what our top tip is for other expecting parents. Without a doubt, my husband and I say that Shannon's support was the most valuable step we could've taken to prep in advance of the birth of our child and through the entire delivery process. Shannon is the reason we were prepared and that in spite of an induction, we did not have to deal with the cascade of medical interventions that often follow. We attribute a smooth delivery to the guidance and support we got from Shannon, even in the face of challenging personal circumstances related to the pregnancy and birth.
In advance of the delivery, Shannon was super knowledgeable and prepared us well for what to expect in the lead up to delivery through postpartum.
During delivery, Shannon was incredibly response (as always) and was with us so we could advocate for ourselves. Because of Shannon, we were able to have a vaginal delivery even when it seemed likely that we might be pushed towards a c section, which I did not want. We also truly kept the interventions to a minimum, 100pct because of Shannon's guidance. She also had the most gentle soothing presence and totally transformed the experience.
We would recommend working with Shannon to anyone who wants to 1/ be knowledgeable about birth, 2/ advocate for themselves as patients during a scary and overwhelming time, 3/ have an incredible birthing process.
Lastly, Shannon was able to transform what is usually a sterile, depressing hospital room into a welcoming and comforting space, which goes a long way to making one of the scariest experiences something you can manage.
