I was already about 36 weeks along and being in such a remote place didn’t think there were any doulas in the area. And then, destiny intervened. I met Meg when I was doing a childbirth education class at the local hospital. I knew I wanted an intimate birth, without tons of family or friends being present, just my partner and I. However, I also knew the support of a doula could be advantageous for both my mental wellbeing and also my husband. We had multiple meetings with Meg before my due date and she provided so much education being as this was our first child. I loved how open minded and helpful Meg was with assisting in creating my birth plan. When the day arrived, she came as soon as I requested and stayed with me every step of the way (over 24 hours!). She helped navigate whatever showed up, even when they didn’t go as I had planned. I’d like to call her my birth coach throughout my labor and delivery. Encouraging me, reminding me to hydrate, nourishing my senses with oils, applying pressure and suggesting different laboring positions. She was our steady throughout the process and after, keeping a record of everything that happened, because I wasn’t able to remember some parts. She helped me with latching and breastfeeding my babygirl as soon as possible. Meg’s presence was an actual gift, a true blessing to have her be apart of such a special moment in our lives. We would highly recommend working with Meg and hope we have the chance to again in the future!
