My wife and I had Hannah as our doula and could not have been happier or more impressed. I can say that is true of the nurses at UW Medicine in L&D because we overheard them say as such but we'll stick to our experience.
Hannah first met with us as our doula and communicated over video calls a couple times late in the pregnancy and helped us make sure our I's were crossed and T's dotted. She was insightful and thoughtful in guiding us to delivery. Everything from making sure we had a plan to covering a few missed items in our hospital bag.
At the hospital in labor and delivery Hannah was there to support us through a planned induction ending in a difficult c-section with complications. She was helpful in keeping an eye on my wife as she pushed for three hours as both of us were not in a headspace to do it. My wife was literally falling asleep between contractions. But it was after this that Hannah was truly pivotal.
The c-section ran almost two hours longer than is typical. Our daughter was delivered with twenty minutes and shortly there after my wife and daughter were separated to the OR and recovery respectively.
Hannah was there to watch over my wife while I cared for our daughter. I felt much more secure knowing that Hannah was there in case something happened. Additionally Hannah was there to let my mother in law know the situation and to come to the hospital for additional support. We couldn't have done this without her and come out with our mental health intact.
Post pardem Hannah continued guidance with making sure we were comfortable with our daughter and dealing with some difficult lactation issues. She had good guidance about (and is super into) baby wearing and was helpful in picking our carrier.
We couldn't have asked for a better doula than Hannah and are extremely grateful for all her help on our pregnancy journey.
