I don't think I could've done this alone without the help of Vanessa Fitzgerald. I did not realize how intense labor would be, but I felt supported throughout the whole process. My experience began meeting with Vanessa, and she went through the whole process of what I would expect and what she would be doing. She is very communicative with me throughout all of the process. I started to go into labor at 39 weeks and 4 days. Once my contractions started intensifying, she rapidly responded and met me at my house. She was very proactive, keeping me calm and steady. The contractions ultimately settled, and she left because I was having prodromal labor. She said if the contractions gets strong or if I need anything else at all to let her know and she would return. Later at night, the contractions got stronger, and I made my way to the Hospital. She met me there, and again, she was there, giving me guidance and support. My ultimate goal was to go through labor 100% naturally, and I really don't know if that would've been possible without her help. Not only was she patient and supportive, but she was also extremely knowledgeable and made sure that I was as comfortable as possible. She helped me maneuver into various positions and also helped me advocate for what I wanted. If you know what are goals are for birth, or need someone who is extremely supportive and can guide you, I highly recommend hiring Vanessa to be your Doula. I really do not have words to thank her.
